Iron is a nutrient essential for the formation of red blood cells and the body's capacity to carry oxygen. Iron deficiency anemia is a very common condition where the body lacks sufficient iron to produce hemoglobin and red blood cells. Young women can be particularly susceptible due to heavy menstrual periods or insufficient iron rich food consumption. Symptoms of iron deficiency anemia commonly include:
shortness of breath
poor exercise tolerance
hair loss or lack of hair growth
Although iron supplements can be used to help improve anemia, many people do not digest and absorb these. Often, iron supplements can cause gastrointestinal distress such as constipation, nausea or upset stomach. Intravenous iron infusions are a simple way to bring up your iron levels and reverse iron deficiency anemia in just a few sessions. Treatments are very well tolerated and do not produce any digestive discomfort.
*Recent blood test results are necessary prior to starting your Iron IV treatments. This may be obtained from your family physician or here.
